Don’t be Distracted from Nature
I can hardly believe that the 4th of July has already passed. Summer is going by so fast! Does time just seem to be going faster, or is it just me?
My farmer husband and I discussed how fast time seems to be going, thinking it is because we are getting older. However, we hear our 20-something kids talking about how fast time goes as well.
Maybe life is meant to be lived more simply than what we make it. God’s plan is not about chaos, noise, or technology. Distractions seem to be getting the best of us.
Distractions aren’t unique to today and this generation, but they are definitely more established than ever before.
Cell phones are the #1 distraction in society today. 88% of Americans admit they normally take their phone with them to the bathroom. That is just gross!
Would you say the word “distraction” could define your lifestyle? The enemy has found a way into every home, every mind, every bedroom without anyone noticing.
Jesus tries to speak to us. His presence is in every colorful sunrise, the sound of a sweet bird’s song, or the intricacy of a spider’s web. He is with us 24/7 and wants to comfort, guide, and protect each of us. But we reach for our phone instead. We choose noise and distractions over His voice.
Cell phones make us believe we are connected, but we are more alone than ever. We miss out on so much by staring at a screen.
We need to start taking our time back. Go outside, feel the sun on your face, close your eyes, and fill your lungs with fresh air. Look at the people around you; I mean really look at them. Everyone has the desire to be known and loved.
Be aware of your surroundings and look up. Be present and work on your relationships. Enjoy silence and take control of how your time is spent.
Have a fabulous week, enjoying your time in nature.
