Conversation on a Train
Traveling makes you get out of your box. Most of the time, your normal isn’t anywhere close to everyone else’s normal. It’s good to see life from someone else’s perspective. I love having a conversation with other people and hearing their stories, especially when we travel.
My farmer husband and I took the fast train to Paris. On the trip, no one was talking to each other, and not one person was conversing with the person directly across from them.
While seated at a four-person table. I leaned over to my husband and said, “It is so quiet in here.” He leaned back over to me and said, “I’m thinking you are about to change that.” So, I did.
We had a wonderful conversation with the men across from us. We laughed and chatted the whole way home.
One man lived in London and was coming back from a weekend spent in Paris. The other man was from Ireland. He had moved to Dubai and had just brought his family back to Ireland. They were living with his parents.
It was interesting to hear his stories about the war and the missiles you could see at night. Although worried they couldn’t get a flight out, it ended up working out but was still pretty stressful.
We are created to communicate. If not, we get stuck in our own heads thinking our current situation is all that matters.
My grandma always said, “If everyone put their problems in a pile, you would see what everyone else is dealing with and take yours back.”
Have a blessed week,
Debbie
