I have a cousin who is a great storyteller. Can you relate? Is there someone in your family like him?
Inserting sounds and actions into his stories, he makes the tales spectacular, seeming to come alive. Everyone around him laughs and enjoys the story he is telling. He has a gift.
Sharing history is so significant. It tells you:
– Stories from the past that describe how you got here.
– Describes the choices other people made and how those choices affected them.
– It shows human nature acting as a mirror.
– Reflecting on your past helps you understand how you got where you are, your family lineage, and who you are today.
Scripture explains, “Tell your children about these things, let your children tell their children, and let your grandchildren tell their children” Joel 1:3.
My grandmother and great-grandmother were strong Christian women. How I would love to have a book of stories from them today that I could read and would tell what God did for them in their lives, where and how they experienced God’s presence, and how their faith grew from time spent with Him.
So, along with my new book, Believe In What You See, there is an accompanying diary called My Diary of God’s Presence. When God reaches His hand down into your life, and you feel His glorious presence, write it down.
On hard days when you question where God is, this Diary will remind you that you can trust His continual presence and love for you each day. You can go back through the pages and re-live His faithfulness by reading what He has done for you.
This diary is for me as well. I want to leave a legacy of faith to help future generations navigate life. I want to help my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren change their perspective so that they can see God’s presence in all of creation and nature.
