What kind of person are you? Do you enjoy researching new areas you know nothing about? How do you consume information?
This whole book-writing thing is a lot of information to consume. I have learned that publishers expect the author to have a platform and an email list of at least 5,000 before they will even consider publishing your book.
There is also the self-publishing option, where you are totally on your own selling your book. Either way, authors need to be able to sell their own books, which is a substantial investment.
When you sign with a publisher, they pay you, but you also give them the rights to your book.
I am writing this book for legacy, not money. I want to leave the rights to my book and future books with my family.
Has anyone else written a book and has some insight to share? Currently, I am still weighing out the options.
