Happy week of Easter!
Easter is my favorite holiday! I love spending a springtime day with the church and family celebrating Jesus. This year is the first year our granddaughters are old enough to hunt eggs!
Easter egg hunts are a custom believed to have started in sixteenth-century Germany. Dr. Martin Luther organized egg hunts for his church’s congregation.
The men would hide the eggs, allowing the women and children to search for them. This acknowledges the resurrection story of women being the first to find the empty tomb where Jesus’s body had been placed.
Eggs represent resurrection and new life for believers. God made the outside of an egg appear cold and hard, yet new life can flourish from within. The grave keeps life locked in; eggs remind you of the tomb from which Jesus arose.
After His crucifixion, death, and burial, Christ rose from the grave three days later. By this, He conquered death and redeemed us from sin.
Easter is one of the most important celebrations in the Christian calendar. It is a time to glorify and give thanks for Jesus Christ’s Resurrection.
Like a chick hatching from an egg, Jesus came out of the grave. So, from now on, every time you crack open an egg, think of the new life Jesus provides you.
May the joy of Easter fill your heart with renewed faith and happiness this week.
Blessings to you,
Debbie
